Yehaaa!!!..... finally I have won something in mtb dh... although a 3rd place in Hardtail category, it means heaps to me as I have never won't anything in mtb before. Some might say due to lack of competition that I podium, but what do I care. Although the track is kinda local for me, it is only today that I have rode the whole track. Plus, the seeding run was the first time that I jump the garden gap and the dirt drop. Nice.

Whatever it is I have to thank Allah today for giving me such confidence to race and to bless me with good legs today, no gout. Hahahahaa.

Looking at it, I really have to boost my fitness if I ever want to win the race as I reckon I have the skill, but the execution was hampered by my lack of fitness and stamina. Alright then, till the next round of race in April.

Ciao.

Race is coming

Well, it's been a long time but finally Malaysia downhill mtb race scene is heating up again. A series of race has been lined up for this year at Bukit Kiara. This weekend (24th of February 2008) will be the first race for this year. From the look of it, this is gonna be a good one with number of riders expected to be more than 50 as at to date.

Compared to previous years races, this race looks to set a benchmark for races to come. New trail is prepared for this race, with the standard being raised up a notch. This is not going to be just another fast flowing track only. More technical, off-camber + rooty sections and bigger jumps makes this a more challenging trail. Heck, the small gap jump had even claim a shoulder already last weekend. Of course, this is not up to any world cup standard but for Malaysia, this can be one of the more harder track ever made for racing. I bet at least the chicken run will be ridden by many during the race.

I tried the new track last weekend. The jumps looks doable. However, I don't think I'll be taking the last drop before the finish line. With a full suspension, I might consider taking it, but with a hardtail, I dont think I will. I fear my body can't absorb the impact properly, what more with an injured achilles tendon and gouthritis. To think of it, I'll be lucky if I can race this weekend since gout has attack again today. But not too bad this time. I can still walk.

Ok then. Cao.
