Cheap tyres

Since it has been almost a week since the last time I cycled, I was pretty excited that this Saturday morning I can go out for a spin. Woke up early all giddy up. Checked the bike, all good. Just as I want to pump the tyre, I saw the rear tyre had swollen, near the valve. I thought it just due to overpumping. Let out some air and it seemed ok. Repumped it and there it goes, swell. After carefull inspection, the cause was identified. It appears that the tyre lip which hook to the rim had disintegrated, so there is nothing to hold down the tyre against the rim.

So it only lasted for 500km. I guess you get what you pay for. It is a Kenda stock tyre which comes with a RM550 bike. Maybe cost no more than RM15 each. It is just to show that quality do come with a price. Perhaps I should just fork out for the Michelin tyre which cost RM100 +. I might as well get it, since I need reliable tyres for commuting too.

Well, since nowhere to go this morning, I will just stay home and watch Black Hawk Down on Astro.
